Warrington Rowing Club Crews were in action at the weekend, competing in Northwich at the Autumn Head hosted by Northwich Rowing Club. Despite some challenging weather conditions which led to events being cancelled the club had a number of successes.
The Masters D coxed 4 of Adam Lumley, Jon Budd, Paul Rigby and Phil Higginson won their race, beating 3 other crews.
Charlotte Moll experienced her first race in a single at IM3 and worked hard to come in second – losing to a GB rower but beating two other boats.
The Women’s IM3 quad -Charlotte Brennan, Carole Green, Gill Laidlaw and Charlotte Moll beat the Grange school crew by 12 seconds.
The Women’s Masters quad – Lucy Houghton, Donna Sleater, Jen Hind and Sian Henry came second to their rivals Bradford – closing the gap this time to 8 seconds.
Sasha Collins and Jen Joules raced at Womens IM3 in a double after only a few sessions back to rowing for Jen and worked hard but just missed out on a medal.
The J15 squad had a number of wins for – J15 Double of Josh Critchley and Michael Lee (by 24 seconds), J15 Coxed Quad – Angus Stewart, Josh Critchley, Michael Lee, Sam Dickenson and cox: Megan Dunbavand (by 7 seconds)
Also competing and coming 2nd were the – WJ15 double of Maddie McCormick and Ella Stanhope and the J15 Coxed 4 of Angus Wooler, Marcus Reilly, Ollie McFerran, Max Bury and cox: Hattie Wallis
Coming 3rd in their event were the WJ16 coxed four of Ella Stanhope, Beth Potts, Feona Donnelly-Worthington, Lauren Hughes and cox: Hattie Wallis
The J14 squad were on form with the boys J14 Quad of Joe Baguley, Joe Guerin, Tom Ledger and Cameron Green coxed by Marcus Mackay rowed to a first place victory with a clear lead of just under a minute over their nearest rivals.
The girls J15 quad of Mary Knowles, Caitlin Potts, Alex Fletcher and Harriet Jones coxed by Sarah Whiteley finished fifth, with Caitlin Potts and Alex Fletcher also taking fourth place in the girls junior 14 doubles event.
Meanwhile, the boys J14 double of Bradley Strickland-Baker and Harrison White rowed up one age category in the J15 doubles, finishing in eighth place.
