Intermediate Squad

Set up in September 2018, the Intermediate Squad is for those who want to do more than recreational rowing and are interested in becoming competitive rowers. Rowers can move directly from Recreational to the Senior Squads however, the Intermediate Squad gives Recreational Rowers, who are often time-constrained by family and career commitments, an opportunity to have competitive training and the experience of racing at British Rowing Affiliated events.  They are then able to make an informed choice whether they want to take on the increased demands of Senior Squad Rowing.

The Intermediate Squad has fun and enjoys their rowing, if rowers wish to remain in the Squad that is fine – all very flexible.

The Squad competes at local British Rowing affiliated events of head racing and regattas and uses fine boats.

The Squad has on water sessions all year round on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and during the summer on a Wednesday evening – light permitting. Fitness is maintained in the winter by two weekday evening gym sessions – ergos and circuit training.  In the summer it is predominately on water sessions with some gym work to continue to develop fitness.

The Squad pays Senior Squad membership fees.
