Masters’ Squad

The Warrington Masters’ Squad is a friendly and active group of about 30 men and women athletes who are aged between mid 30s and 60+. This is a competitive squad and training is organised to enable each person to reach their aspirations – whether that be to compete at local heads and regattas, or to compete nationally, and even internationally.

As well as attending most of the local and regional heads and regattas, we aim to take crews to Vets Fours Head, Vesta Masters Head of the River and British Masters Championships each year. And we are looking at Henley Masters as well as Euro and World Masters for those who want in the coming years.

The summer months bring four water sessions a week for the squad – two midweek and two at the weekends. In winter, the weekend water sessions remain, and the midweek sessions are land based – with one session focusing on strength and conditioning, and the other on erg training. Many masters members will also train outside this as well to maintain their fitness. Our squad’s mission is to be fitter, faster and stronger each year and we constantly look at ways to achieve this – as we love to win medals!
